Arnold L. Thorell of Lakeville went Home to be with His Savior on September 2, 2016 following a period of declining health.  He was 79.

He was born on September 21, 1936 in Brockton, son of the late Gustav Harry Thorell and Astrea Oscara (Thornberg) Thorell and attended Brockton High School.
He was a resident of Lakeville for the past 54 years and a former 7 year resident of Raynham.  A veteran, Mr. Thorell served in the US Navy and the National Guard.

He was a railroad stationmaster, truck driver, warehouse manager, charter bus driver and entrepreneur.  Mr. Thorell was a Board Member for Habitat for Humanity and a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of North Middleboro, where he faithfully served on the Leadership Team.  He devoted himself to preserving the "little church on the corner" through his loving maintenance of the building. Mr. Thorell especially enjoyed being involved with the Vacation Bible School, singing, planning the Ladies Dinners and being a friend, mentor and witness for Christ to everyone.  He was responsible for the Fourth of July Parade outreach each year and appreciated the history of Isaac Backus.   He was a bowling champion, softball coach, competitive horseshoes, golfer, travel adventurer, and a devoted fan of the New York Yankees and the New England Patriots.

Beloved husband for 60 years of Rachel Alden (Harris) Thorell.  Devoted father of Joyce and Ken Dias of Melbourne, FL, Tina and Jim Perry of Old Hickory, TN and Rodney and Donna Thorell of Clermont, FL.  Loving brother of Ruth Weinstein of Bourne, the late Pearl Smith, Gertrude Kukauskas and Oscar Thorell.  Also survived by 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
