Thelma Lawrence (Holmes) Gates

Thelma Lawrence (Holmes) Gates of Middleboro died peacefully in her home on January 18, 2021.  She was 97.  

She was born on March 8, 1923 in Middleboro, daughter of the late Martin L. and Viola R. (Holloway) Holmes, attending local schools.  A lifelong Baptist and homemaker, Mrs. Gates treasured her family and home, dedicated to providing a loving environment for her children.  She had a passion for cooking and baking, sharing her sought after recipes and offering them to charities to be used in cookbooks.  Mrs. Gates was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.  

Beloved wife of the later Henry D. Gates.  Devoted mother of Henry W., Judith A., Bonnie Gates-Tonkin and the late Lawrence D. Gates.  Also survived by her daughter-in-law, Eileen Gates.  

Funeral services on Wednesday (January 27, 2021) at 11 AM in the O'Neill Funeral Home, 59 Peirce Street (corner of School Street) Middleboro. 

Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday (January 27, 2021) beginning at 10 AM.
