Robert W. Wood of Middleboro died peacefully on October 8, 2024 following a period of declining health. He was 85.
Woody, as he was affectionately known, was born on October 23, 1938 in Plymouth, the son of the late Everett N. and Ida (Stefani) Wood and attended local schools. He served in the United States Air Force (1956-1960) and was Honorably Discharged. He was a beloved father, friend, community leader and successful business owner.
Woody was a major source of inspiration to many, impacting countless lives based on the generous sharing of his resources, selflessness and true caring. He was always quick to offer aid to those in need.
Those that knew him were truly blessed. Ever a prankster, he was able to forge close relationships with people across a wide array of generations, industries, and social statuses.
Woody was pre-deceased by his loving wife of 35 years, Carole L. Wood. Woody is survived by his loving companion, Sharon Wills; seven sons: Jack Welch, Wesley Wood, Larry Welch, William Wood, Robbie Welch, David Welch and Derek Wood.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
