Robert Stendzis, Jr. Obituary

Robert Imants Stendzis Jr, a loving son, nephew, cousin, and friend, passed away on February 11, 2023, at the age of 32.

He was born on December 19, 1990, the only child to Denise Tripp of Wareham and the late Robert Imants Stendzis. During his early years, Robert spent every weekend with his best friend Joseph Sullivan. He graduated from Upper Cape Tech in 2009, where he studied automotive. Following graduation, he followed in his father's footsteps and worked as a commercial fisherman out of New Bedford. Robert was a hard worker and found joy in tinkering with anything and everything. He enjoyed finding a good deal on Craigslist and fixing up used cars, dirt bikes, and quads before selling them off. Dirt bike riding and quadding around the neighborhood was some of his favorite hobbies. Robert had a love for his dogs, Duke and Nova, and cherished spending time with them. He was known for his passion for debating and was always up for a discussion on any topic. His favorite food was Domino's pizza, which he enjoyed with a beer or two.

Robert is survived by his grandparents, Jacqueline Tripp and Imants Stendzis, Uncles: Donald Tripp, Todd Korzeniski and David Rebeiro, Aunts: Karen Almeida, Brenda Meehan, Lori Korzeniski, Kristi Tripp, and Angel Stendzis, cousins to include: Joey Senerchia, Wayne Senerchia, Casie-Marie Svedine, Patrick Almedia, Cora-Lee Svedine, Jessica Berberena, Jessica Enos, Jennifer Newhook, Richard Meehan, Khristopher Korzeniski, Joshua Meehan, Andrew Korzeniski, Mia Crammer, Nick Sances, Katelynne Fisher, and Ty Rebeiro. He is predeceased by his grandparents: John Tripp, Dawn Ledoux, uncles: Warren Svedine, Buddy Sances, Dean Meehan, and aunts: Florance Svedine, Mary Sances, Marie Tripp and cousin Krystal Stendzis.

Robert struggled with mental illness during the latter part of his life, and on February 11th, he made the decision to end his life by jumping off the Bourne Bridge. It is his family's hope that those who are struggling with mental illness seek help before it is too late. The National 24/7 Hotline at 988 offers free and confidential support to anyone experiencing a mental health crisis or suicidal thoughts.

The family will have a Celebration of Life ceremony for Robert, Jr. and Sr. on September 16, 2023 between the hours of 2 and 6 PM at the Onset VFW.  Robert's absence will be felt by those who knew him and he will be remembered for his love for his family, dogs, and his ability to find joy in fixing anything that needed repair.
