Robert Lawrence Bourne of Middleboro died on December 29, 2022. He was surrounded by his children, family and loved ones. Robert was 54 years old and passed away following a brief illness. 

He was born on November 19, 1968 in Taunton, attending schools in Carver and Middleboro, where he resided for the majority of his short life.  Robert had numerous talents and interests.  He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting, cooking, camping, listening to music and appreciated the outdoors.  He was a loyal New England Patriots fan. 

He was so proud of his children Alexis and Anthony for their good characters and accomplishments. Robert loved his family and that love was returned. He was always fiercely protective of his children and family. He treasured the holidays and time spent with his family.  An accomplished mason, Robert enjoyed the many years he spent as an employee of the family business, Gates Masonry & Construction in Lakeville.  

Beloved son of the late Linda (Rea) Amiro and Robert Silva.  Loving father of Alexis Gates and Anthony Gates both of East Freetown. Long-term partner Charlene Gates of East Freetown, the devoted and selfless mother of his children.  Son of Rick Bourne of New Bedford and step-son of John Amiro of Middleboro.  Boyfriend of Rene Wood of  Middleboro.  Brother of Derek Bourne and his wife, Eta of Tolland, Connecticut, Daniel Bourne of Middleboro, Nicole Bourne White and her husband, Christian of Cape Coral, Florida, Robin Silva of Holliston, Karin and Jason Bourne both of New Bedford. Nephew of John Rea and Louis Rea. Also survived by his second mom, Auntie Sherilyn (Rea) Shurtleff of Middleboro, the Gates and Carmichael families, his lifelong friend, Peter Goodine of Middleboro, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and countless friends. 

Relatives and friends may call on January 7, 2023 from 12 Noon until 3 PM to the O'Neill Funeral Home, 59 Peirce Street (corner of School Street) Middleboro.   

A Celebration of Life will follow.   

Burial will be private.
