Richard Ellis Obituary

Richard Irving Ellis, age 93, passed away on June 11, 2026, in Middleboro, Massachusetts.

Richard spent most of his life in Hanson, Massachusetts, before retiring to Zephyrhills, Florida. On September 12, 1955, he married Sally (Ibbitson) Ellis, beginning a marriage that lasted more than seventy years.

Richard proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years. Following his military service, he built a successful career as a self-employed businessman in the communications and alarm systems industry. His strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit allowed him to serve his community for many years.

Richard had a lifelong love of aviation and enjoyed flying recreationally in his younger years. In retirement, he spent countless hours on the golf course, a pastime that brought him great enjoyment. He also loved gathering with family and friends to play cribbage and card games, where his competitive spirit was often on display.

A special place in Richard's heart was reserved for his beloved dog, Mindy. Her companionship brought him years of happiness, and she remained one of the great joys of his life. Though she passed away several years ago, she was never forgotten.

He is survived by his wife, Sally Ellis; his daughters, Cindy Ellis and Kim (Sara) Brown; his son, Steve Ellis, and his wife, Deb; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.

In accordance with Richard's wishes, services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's memory may be made to Old Colony Hospice in appreciation for the care and support provided to him and his family.
