Peter Vieira of New Bedford died peacefully and in his home on February 23, 2021. He was 46.
He was born on August 24, 1974 in Boston, the son of Jean M. Vieira and Frederick Covel, attending local schools. Peter worked as a plasterer, taking great pride in his work. He considered his trade to be an art and could easily recall the numerous homes and businesses where he had worked throughout the years.
His positive attitude overshadowed any hardships he experienced during his life. Though his life was short it was filled with adventure. Peter loved the outdoors, especially the water. His biggest passion was being in his canoe and fishing on Woods Lake. In his childhood he would race his mother down ski slopes and find jumps on the trails. He was fearless and his spirit was indomitable.
Beloved son of Jean M. Vieira and her companion, Paul Barrett of Middleboro. Loving companion of Tammy Hewig of New Bedford. Father of Layne and Liam. Grandson of Joan Banks and Esther Covel. Also survived by Tammy's daughter, Samantha, aunts and uncles, including Dorothy Vieira, Mary Tufts, Frances Covel, Joy Covel, Dale Covel and Randy Covel, nieces and nephews, cousins, including Dillon Tufts and Sam Tufts and friends.
Visiting hours on Saturday (March 6, 2021) from 4 until 6 p.m. in the O'Neill Funeral Home, 59 Peirce Street (corner of School Street) Middleboro.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
