Nancy Lee Usher, 78, of Middleboro, formerly of Quincy, died peacefully in her sleep the night of March 3rd, 2021. Nancy was the middle child of her late parents, Leman Coleman and Camilla (Calvi) Coleman of Quincy.
Quincy, MA had a blueprint on her life as she was born and raised there. Nancy attended North Quincy High School and began her career as an Office Manager for Remick’s. She was a favorite waitress at Mr. Kelly’s in Quincy. Nancy had a beautiful singing voice and was known to sometimes treat the folks at The Hollow, on Adams Street, to a song. She remained in her hometown until her retirement in 2013.
Nancy was a hard-working person who held a variety of jobs throughout her life, many of which were in the elevator industry. Her last was Fujitec America, where she worked for 28 years, retiring as their Office Manager for East Coast operations. For her retirement party, the President of Fujitech flew in from Japan to attend out of respect for her valued service.
Her beautiful smile and infectious laugh endeared her to people, but it was her willingness to listen that really made her stand out as a person. Nancy was selfless, generous, and fiercely loyal. She enjoyed the holidays, particularly Christmas. One of her favorite places to go was Santa’s Village in New Hampshire with her grandchildren. Trips with her family meant the world to her, whether it was a “girls’ weekend” with her daughter or a one of her creative events like visiting a wolf sanctuary or taking a falconry course. Nancy loved animals and became particularly attached to Peruvian guinea pigs in her later years. She had a creative side which, most recently, meant homemade ceramics, and, throughout her whole life, delicious home cooking. Her potato salad and lasagna and meatballs were frequent requests for gatherings.
Nancy’s true joy was her grandchildren. Daniel and David both had a special bond with the woman affectionately known as “Grammy”.
She is survived by her brother, Ron, and Natalie Coleman of Canton; and her two children, Joan and Jim Larkin of Lakeville; and Dave and Kelly Usher of Bridgewater.
From humble beginnings, Nancy always remembered getting presents from the Salvation Army as a young child. As such, she donated to the Salvation Army every year. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Salvation Army at https://www.salvationarmyusa.org/usn/ways-to-give/
Funeral services will be private.
