Michael G. Parent

Michael G. Parent of Marion, MA passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023. He was the son of Arthur E. Parent of Carver and the late Patricia (Leonard) Parent-Dube of Middleboro.

In 1979, Mike graduated from Middleboro High School. His life-long career was as a cook in several of the best local restaurants.    

Mike possessed a genuinely warm and accepting smile which was a direct reflection of his kind and gentle heart.  The rare combination of patience, humility, thoughtfulness, and being a good listener demonstrated the high regard that he placed on everyone that he met.

He was an avid outdoor sportsman as he spent much time boating, fishing, and hunting. Mike also enjoyed following our local New England sports teams especially the Patriots and the Boston Red Sox.  

Mike is survived by his loving and faithful companion for the past 26 years, Janet Olean of Marion. Together, with her sons David, Nathan, and Joshua many meaningful family times were shared. Mike delighted in walks with the grandchildren on the beach to collect shells or in the woods to gather stones. These special family experiences brought immeasurable joy into his life. It is these memories that will forever nourish our hearts with Mike’s loving presence.

He is also survived by his father Arthur Parent and step mother Jaqueline Parent, brother Craig Parent, and sister Jeanne Bernier. Mike also left his step sisters Kathleen Donoghue and Suzanne Dube, as well as, his step brothers Glenn Gomes, Stephen Gomes, Stephen Dube, and Daniel Dube.  

He was predeceased by his beloved mother Patricia Dube, step father Albert Dube, step brother Matthew Dube, and step sister Cynthia Clark.  

A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, March 27 at O’Neill Funeral Home, 59 Peirce St. Middleboro at 9 AM with a Memorial Service commencing at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Nemasket Hill Cemetery, 515 Plymouth St., Middleboro.    

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local “Friends of the Library” organization, as reading brought Mike much serenity and joy.
