Mary L. (Glidden) Desmond of Middleboro passed peacefully and surrounded by her family on December 12, 2023. She was 85.
She was born on February 12, 1938 in Middleboro, daughter of the late Benjamin K. and Delphina D. (Harris) Glidden, attending local schools. Mary was a graduate of Middleboro High School, Class of 1956 and Bryant and Stratton in Boston. She worked for the family store, A. R. Glidden & Son. Mary was the wife of Harry E. Desmond, to whom she wed on August 7, 1960. They were married for almost 64 years. Mary loved her family and friends and that love was returned. She also enjoyed genealogy, ceramics, travel and going out.
Loving wife of Harry E. Desmond. Devoted mother of James E. Desmond and his wife, Barbara of Middleboro, Tammy L. Mallers and her husband, John of Easton and the late Sarah Desmond. Cherished grandmother of Joshua E. Desmond, John C. (J.C.) Mallers, Jr., Julie C. Mallers and Jared C. Mallers. Sister of the late Richard and Roger Glidden.
Relatives and friends may call on December 18, 2023 (Monday) from 4 until 7 p.m. to the O'Neill Funeral Home, 59 Peirce Street (corner of School Street) Middleboro.
A graveside service will be held on January 6, 2024 (Saturday) at 10 a.m. in the Central Cemetery, Middleboro.
