Marilyn Barbara (Cussen) Pease of Middleboro, 77, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and nurse.
Marilyn Barbara Cussen Pease passed away at the age of 77 early in the morning of Monday, April 6 at Stafford Hill Assisted Living in Plymouth, MA after a lengthy illness. Marilyn was born in Boston in June 1942 to Sarah “Sally” Conneely Cussen and Maurice F. Cussen, both originally from Ireland. She was the fourth of five children raised in the Dorchester and Readville neighborhoods of Boston. Marilyn graduated from Saint Thomas Aquinas High School in Jamaica Plain and Boston City Hospital School of Nursing as an RN.
Marilyn is remembered for her beautiful smile, kind words, and dedication to her patients, loved ones, and the Red Sox through the years. She was a wonderful sister and daughter, kind and loyal friend, adoring wife, and doting Mom and Nana. Raising her three children in Ohio, Missouri and in Stoughton, Marilyn was a tireless and patient parent, thoughtful neighbor, and engaged community member. She worked in several hospitals over the years before returning to Massachusetts where she spent 25 years as a nurse at the Massachusetts Hospital School in Canton. She loved her patients and colleagues, and touched many lives over the years.
Marilyn is survived by her devoted husband Robert W. Pease of Middleboro. Married since 2000 they loved to garden and travel, volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels for many years, and were big Boston sports fans. Marilyn is also survived by her daughter Trish Blake Cleary, her husband John, and children Patrick, Ella and Maeve of Evanston, IL; daughter Angela Blake Madnick, her husband Michael and daughter Tess of Washington, DC; and son David Maurice Blake, his wife Shauna and children Thomas, Owen and Sawyer Elizabeth of Fort Mill, SC. Marilyn is also survived by two brothers, David Cussen and his wife June of Sarasota FL, and Richard Cussen of Kingston. Marilyn enjoyed a large, loving extended family including three step-sons and their beautiful families: Greg Pease and his wife Rita and daughter Maggie of Scituate; Jonathan Pease and his son Alex of Scituate; and Dan Pease and his wife Megan and children Luke, Evan, Cameron and Morgan of Cranbury, NJ.
Marilyn was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. A celebration of her life will be planned when the pandemic conditions allow for it to be done safely; and at that time she will be laid to rest in Bourne.
