Obituary

Kenneth R. Jensen, 83, of West Bridgewater went home to Heaven on December 18, 2019.
Born in Brockton, he was the son of Sumner and Doris Jensen and a 1954 graduate of Brockton High School.  He attended Brockton Business College and served 12 years in the US Naval Reserve.  Beloved husband of Marilyn A. Jensen for 61 years and Dad to David T. Jensen and the late Karin L. Swanson.  He also leaves 4 much-loved grandchildren:  Derek Jensen, Jared, Joshua and Kyla Swanson along with son-in-law, Brian Swanson.  He is survived by his close friend and brother, Richard Jensen and his wife, JoAnn and brother-in-law, Laurent Brodeur and many nieces and nephews.  He was pre-deceased by his sister, Meredith Brodeur.

Ken was the owner of The Heritage House (Christian book store) in Brockton for 55 years, having begun at age 27.
He had also owned six additional stores in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut.  Ken considered it a privilege to be called by God to this ministry.  In addition, Ken had also been a part-time sales representative for Tyndale Publishing, David C. Cook and Standard Publishing.  He was the founder of Northeast Christian Booksellers and a former board member of Christian Booksellers Association, headquartered in Colorado.

As a long-time former member of Community Covenant Church in East Bridgewater and current member of First Baptist Church of North Middleboro, Ken held many positions of leadership, his favorites being adult Sunday School teacher and for several years, a youth leader.  He loved sharing The Word both in home Bible Studies and at church.  For several years he enjoyed singing with a friend at local nursing homes. An avid sports fan and YMCA member, Ken enjoyed playing basketball and softball.  He also enjoyed jogging, chopping wood, stamp collecting, reading, backpacking, crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy and traveling.  Being part of an archaeology dig in Israel was a special joy.
