Karl N. Sylvia of Lakeville passed away on June 22, 2021 after a lengthy period of declining health. He was 81.
He was born on December 27, 1939 on Nantucket Island, son of the late Norman J. and Alice I. (Roberts) Sylvia, attending schools in New Bedford and Wareham. He loved watching The Red Sox, John Wayne movies and wrestling. He also loved sitting by the canal watching the ships go through. He loved fishing with his sons, especially the many trips salmon fishing in upstate New York. Most of all he loved being around his family. Prior to retirement, Karl worked as a Commercial Baker. He provided services to many shops, including Dunkin Donuts, Mr. Donut and Dip N Sip. In addition, he worked at the Ridder Country Club for many years as a baker.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Mary (Betty) Amaral Sylvia; his sons: Michael and Christopher Sylvia and his 3 grandchildren, especially Shauna & Caleb who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his brother Alan Sylvia of Davenport Iowa, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Anne M. (Sylvia) Reed, his brothers, Wendell and Robert Sylvia, Sr. and his grandson, Christopher J. (C. J.) Sylvia.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
