Joseph Puim Sousa

It is with great sadness the family of Joseph P. Sousa, 66, of Lakeville, MA announces he has been 
welcomed by the arms of the Lord.  Joe passed peacefully at home surrounded by family, September 30, 
2020 after a valiant battle with Cancer. Joe was born November 15, 1953 to Anna Garcia and Manuel 
Sousa, of Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal. 
Joe was preceded in death by his father, Manuel and brother, Victor. He is survived by his mother Anna 
Garcia, his beloved wife of 45 years, Cynthia Sousa, sons Benjamin Sousa, Joseph Sousa and wife Christa. 
Sisters, Alma Rezendes, Helen Berube, Teresa Bearse, and Lisa Sousa. Along with three grandchildren, 
Benjamin, Audrey, and Jase.  He also leaves several cousins, nieces and nephews. 
Founder of Lawn-view Landscape/Irrigation/Construction Company. Joe was a distinguished tradesman, 
charismatic and compassionate about his work.  His legacy lives on through many of his hardscape 
designs which can be seen around town.  A mentor to many, willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in 
need. His love and dedication for his company allowed him to grow his local business for 30+ years. He 
loved spending time with his family and going RV’ing with his wife Cindy. The love he showed for his wife 
over the course of their marriage could be felt by all. His grandchildren were his world and anyone he 
talked with would hear a story or two about them.  Restoring old cars, drag racing his beloved Maverick 
and anything Ford powered brought him great joy over the years. Joe was the type of guy you run into 
while shopping at a department store and an hour would fly by while catching up, but it felt like only 10 
minutes.  Gone too soon, Joe will be forever missed by all those who had the pleasure to cross his path. 
 
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday (October 8, 2020) at 10 AM in Saint Ann Catholic Church, 675 North Main Street, Raynham.  

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. 

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PRE-REGISTER TO ATTEND THE FUNERAL MASS.  THE CHURCH CAPACITY IS 100 PEOPLE.  

Interment will be at a later date.
