John S. Hammond Jr., 61 of Carver, MA, formerly of Middleboro, MA passed peacefully at home on
January 1, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the loving husband and best friend of
Christina (Tina) Hammond.
John was born April 22, 1960, the son of the late John S. Hammond Sr and Valerie Murphy (Hammond)
of Middleboro, MA. He was a graduate of Middleboro High School and New England Institute of Technology.
John proudly served in the United States Navy for ten years where he was awarded the Naval
Expeditionary Medal and Meritorious Unit Commendation along with numerous Letters of
Commendation and Appreciation over his Naval career. John was extremely proud of his service to his
country and enjoyed sharing his Navy adventures with his family and friends. During his time as a
civilian, he worked as a General Manager and Account Manager in both the Equipment Rental and
Commercial Tire Industries.
He is survived by his loving wife, Christina (Tina) Hammond of Carver; his children, Brenna Bestwick and
her husband Randall of Attleboro, MA, Daniel Hammond of Mansfield, MA, Rebecca Perry and her
husband Al of Carver, MA, Melissa Holyoke and her husband Jake of Raynham, MA; Stepfather, Charles
Murphy of Bridgewater, MA, his brother Vincent Hammond and his wife, Mary of Buzzards Bay, MA, step-brothers and step-sisters, including Dianne Fitzsimmons of Bridgewater and his in-laws, Timothy and Lois Sullivan of Middleboro, MA. He is also survived by his six grandchildren who were his pride and joy, many cousins, nieces, nephews and his lifelong dear friends Robert and Joyce Carrigan of Sandwich, MA. John is also predeceased by his parents and his brother Christopher Hammond.
Services and burial will be private.
