John J. Flaherty of Bridgewater died peacefully on March 27, 2025. He was 85.
He was born on October 24, 1939 in Boston, the son of the late Thomas F. Flaherty, Sr. and Ann T. (Foley).
John loved his family and that love was returned. He always had a positive outlook on life and was loved by everyone. He enjoyed traveling, the casino and his Boxer dogs and dog shows. A Marine until the end, he loved meeting and talking to new people and perfect strangers about their service and travels. He loved the Boston Red Sox, history and researching his genealogy for the family tree. John enjoyed being an electrician and was a proud member of the Union Local.
Beloved husband of Marjorie C. (Jollimore) Flaherty. Devoted father of John J. Flaherty, Jr. (m. Dawn Flaherty), Wendy C. Clark (m. Daniel Clark) and Timothy R. Flaherty (Gretchen Lufkin). Loving grandfather of Leah A. Levesque, Evan L. Gamblin, John P. Flaherty, Veronica M. Flaherty-Spencer and Jennifer Flaherty. Brother of Philip M. Flaherty (m. Theresa Flaherty), Robert L. Flaherty and the late Barbara A. Hocking (m. Edward Hocking), Ruth C. Gilbertson (m. Clayton Gilbertson), Thomas F. Flaherty, Jr. (m. Carolyn Flaherty) and Paul R. Flaherty (m. Ann Flaherty). Also survived by 7 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and his two fur babies that meant a great deal to him.
