Joan Marie (Silva) Cassiani

Joan Marie Cassiani (Silva) went to dance with abandon on the streets of Heaven, entering the Pearly Gates on August 01, 2024. 

She was born in November 02, 1933 in Middleboro, Mass.  Above all, Joan’s life was defined by her love of family, dancing, and cooking. She loved a good poker dance, mystery novels, and crafting. She enjoyed a great beach day, roller skating, and a day trip with her girlfriends. 

Though she spent the majority of her life in Middleboro outside of a brief stay in Clearwater, Florida while caring for her daughter, grandson, and great granddaughter; Joan spent the final weeks of life residing with her daughter, Jean (Jack) in Middleboro spending quality time getting to know her youngest two great grandchildren, Jade (2) and Aliya (3). 

Joan is survived by her son Chris Cassiani (Pauline), her daughters Jean Ibbitson (Jack), and Wendy Mattie, as well as 11 grandchildren,19 great grandchildren, and one great, great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Cassiani, father, Christian Silva, mother, Marajorie (Travers) Silva, siblings, Christine Demers, Carol Post, Bruce Silva, daughter, Marjorie Souza, and son, Freddy Cassiani, and one great granddaughter, Mirabella Cassiani. 

A wake will be held on August 11, 2024 from 2 until 6 PM in the O’Neill Funeral Home, 59 Peirce Street, Middleboro.  Funeral from the funeral home on August 12, 2024 at 9 AM.  A graveside service will be held at 10 AM in the Nemasket Hill Cemetery.  

As Joan prioritized finding joy in life and sharing it with others, the family asks that you do the same - go out and do something that brings you real joy and share it with those around you. If you feel so moved, reach out and tell us about it - or another joyful time shared with Joan!
