Joachim Hans Herbert Laube 1/29/31-9/6/2020 passed away peacefully at home in
Middleboro, MA with his family on Sunday morning September 6th. He is survived by
his wife of 59 years Margarete (Buehler) Laube, son Marcus, daughter in-law Kristen and
their three grandchildren, whom he adored, Pierce, Reese, Greta, all from Hyannis, MA.
Born in Berlin, Germany, Joachim “John” was a lover of art and philosophy, which he and
his family knew from early on, they were his passion. After finishing secondary school,
he went on to graduate from The University of Berlin and the Master School for Graphic
Design and Fine Arts in Berlin, where he studied to became a graphic artist. After
graduating and working in Germany for a short time, he decided in 1957 that there was
more opportunity for him in America. He moved to New York, where he met his wife,
they were married in 1961 and together would begin his second love, which was to
travel extensively and view as much art as possible. He worked for several prestigious ad
agencies in New York city, later he would start his own freelance company out of his
home in Ardsley NY, where he would do work for such well known companies like IBM,
Pepsi and Ciba Geigy. After his grandson was born, he and his wife decided to move
from NY to MA to be closer to their son and family. It is here in MA, they finally decided
to become US citizens together in Boston's Old State House.
