Jillaine R. (Alphonse) Zion of New Hampshire, formerly of Middleboro, Massachusetts, died peacefully on June 14, 2026, following a period of declining health. She was 70 years old.
She was born on February 11, 1956, in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Edward F. and Marion L. (Conant) Alphonse.
Prior to retirement, Jill devoted 29 years of service to the United States Postal Service.
Jill was feisty, stubborn, and fiercely herself. She enjoyed drag racing cars, showing horses, loved anything with a motor, and had a special affection for animals. She enjoyed visiting over coffee and always made extra just in case someone showed up at dinnertime. Jill will be remembered for her warm smile, generosity, and the kindness she showed to both people and animals. Generous on so many levels, Jill supported numerous animal charities and even fed the strays that visited her home because they had to eat, too.
As her health declined, Jill relocated to New Hampshire, where her daughter, Pamela, remained a devoted source of care and support throughout her final years.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela; Pamela's fiancé, Justin; her treasured cat, Smudge; and several close friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry E. Zion, Jr.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 from 9:30 until 11 a.m. in the O'Neill Funeral Home, 59 Peirce Street (corner of School Street) Middleboro.
In accordance with Jill's wishes, interment will be private.
