Janice I. (McSweeney) Babcock, 82, passed away on March 17, 2022 in the Inn at Silver Lake, Kingston surrounded by loved ones. She was the widow of Paul R. Babcock, Jr. and they were married for 20 years.
Janice was born on October 29, 1939 in Weymouth, Massachusetts to John P. and Marjorie L. (Withey) Lyons. She was a retired bus driver employed by Joe Connelly and later the Ipswich School Department, a job that she enjoyed for 40 years. She belonged to the Oak Point community for the past 10 years. She enjoyed the beach, traveling, gardening, cooking and spending time with family. She also enjoyed a margarita and a nice rare steak. She will be remembered as a strong independent woman who knew what she wanted. She was generous and kind to those who needed a helping hand.
She is survived by her daughter Karen Horan and her husband Roy; her grandchildren Kelsey,Tyler and Caitlyn; her great-grandchildren Mila & Christian. She was predeceased by her loving husband Paul and her son Eddie.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 3, 2022 (Sunday) at 12 noon in the O’Neill Funeral Home, 59 Peirce Street (corner of School Street) Middleboro. A luncheon will follow. If you are planning on attending the luncheon, please RSVP to Karen: 508-269-0322.
