James Finch Sr., 79, of Middleboro, MA passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025.
Born in West Bridgewater, he was the son of the late James L. Finch and Elsie (Bates)
Finch. He was one of four children- sisters Jacqueline Grandy of Easton, Lauren Delaney of
Lakeville and the late Roberta Fritz.
James served his country in the United State Navy before returning home to build a life
rooted in hard work, integrity and love. He went on to own and operate his own flooring
business for many years before trading in his tools for well-earned rest.
James was married to the love of his life, Florence (Gaskin) Finch for 61 years. Together
they raised 8 children: Mona Levesque and her husband Joseph of Middleboro; James
Finch Jr. and his wife Wendy of Rochester; Richard Finch and his wife Denise of
Middleboro; Shauna Cantelmo and her husband Keith of New Bedford; Melissa Mazenkas
and her husband Ben of Middleboro; Robert Finch and his wife Lena of Rochester; Randi
Hill and her husband Eddie of East Wareham; and Travis Finch of Middleboro.
He was also a cherished grandfather to 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, all of
whom will carry his memory forward with love and pride. His extended family include many
nieces, nephews and cousins.
James was a member of the congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses of Middleboro. In his
younger years James found joy on the open road with his motorcycle, on quiet lakes with a
fishing rod in hand, hunting with his sons and grandsons and out on the golf course with
friends. Later in life his greatest happiness came from simple pleasures; spending time
with his family, tending to his koi pond and watching the birds in his backyard. He had a
deep appreciation for nature and a peaceful soul that radiated warmth to those around
him. His legacy will live on in the lives he touched and the family that loves him so dearly.
Funeral services will be private.
