James Joseph Curran, Jr. of East Taunton died peacefully on July 29, 2019 following a period of declining health. He was 79.
He was born on February 13, 1940 in Providence, Rhode Island, son of the late James J. and Mildred (Morrissey) Curran and was a graduate of Bristol County Agricultural High School. Mr. Curran worked as a landscaper and later devoted 33 years to the Massachusetts Department of Correction, serving as a Corrections Officer in Walpole. In addition, he was a member of Local 4 and worked as a heavy equipment operator for more than 20 years. Mr. Curran loved animals, reading and collecting books.
Beloved husband of the late Jo Ann (Olson) Curran. Father of Kelly Howes, James J. Curran, III, David M. Curran, Lisa A. Curran, Donald Fanjoy, Ronald Fanjoy, Terri Fisher, Renee True, Yvonne Campbell and the late Daniel Fanjoy. Brother of Robert Curran. Also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
