Helen Washburn Obituary

Helen Elizabeth Washburn July 28, 1928 – June 24, 2021
Helen E. Washburn, known by many as Bette, of Middleborough passed away peacefully on Thursday,
June 24, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family at the age of 92. She was the wife of the late
John A. Washburn of 39 years, and mother of the late Nancy Lee Washburn. She was a life-long resident
of Middleborough, and she and John enjoyed many years at their summer residence in Onset, and their
winter residence in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Bette was an artist who loved to paint beautiful watercolor paintings. She was an avid scat player and
enjoyed her weekly games with her closest friends. She loved to knit, and knitted personalized Christmas
stockings for all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved her family and always
enjoyed hosting family gatherings.

Bette was survived by her daughter Wendy E. Wiksten and her husband Paul of Middleborough. She was
grandmother and affectionately called Buddy to Heidi Mace and her husband Jeff of Seekonk, Joel
Wiksten and his wife Jamie of Wareham, and Korri Gazza and her husband Paul of Middleborough. She
was also a loving Great-Grandmother to Emma, Ethan, Sarah, Morgan, Abby, Will, Hannah, Noah and
Makynzie.

A private ceremony will be held for the immediate family in Middleborough. In lieu of flowers, donations
may be made to the Middleboro Historical Association (18 Jackson Street, Middleboro, MA 02346) or
