Grace Veronica Smith-Giampietro

Grace Smith-Giampietro, 95, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2023 at home. 

She was born in Jamaica Plain, and lived in Canton and Milton, MA during her child raising years, and later, snowbirded between Osterville and Naples, FL since the early 1970's. She spent the last few of her life with her son, Richard in Middleboro, MA.  Grace was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling the world, social entertaining, supporting the Arts, needle point, and was very active in Club level Tennis and Golf.  Leading up to her marriage with Dominic Giampietro in 1953, she worked in the banking industry.  

Grace belonged to numerous Social and dining clubs throughout her lifetime in both Massachusetts as well as Naples, FL to include but not limited to the Oyster Harbors Club, Quail Creek CC, Olde Cypress CC, The Moorings, and others. 

Grace was the daughter of the late Margaret (Scanlon) Smith of Boston and John J. C. Smith of Liverpool, England.  Grace was predeceased by her husband, Dominic Giampietro, her loving brother John Smith and 4 sisters:  Elizabeth 'Betty' Handfield, Gladys McKeon, Dorothy Barry, and E. Victoria Smith.  

She leaves behind her two sons, Richard Giampietro of Middleboro, MA and Dean Giampietro of Nantucket; two granddaughters: Michelle Mercogliano of Franklin, MA and Christine Giampietro-Bruhn of Barrington, RI; one grandson: Carter Giampietro of Nantucket; along with six great-grandchildren. 

A special "Thank You" to "the girls" (Devin Burleigh, Kerri Lowry and their sensational team) who went above and beyond in providing exceptional care and companionship to Grace over the last couple of years and allowed her wish of passing at home to be realized.  You women are Angels.
