Gerard Martin Lawrence of Plymouth died peacefully on February 2, 2023. Gerry was 86.
He was born on April 24, 1936 in Long Beach, California, son of the late Joseph C. and Tillie A. (Roe) Lawrence.
Professionally, Gerry was a software engineer and by passion he was an Episcopal priest. He loved his family and nothing made him happier than holding a baby. This is probably why he had so many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren! Gerry was a brilliant and kind man who loved to have a good heart to heart with anyone who was willing. He preferred these long chats over wine or beer or better yet a great cigar with a whiskey. He loved reading, puzzles, crossword puzzles, sailing, barbecuing, traveling and collecting sea glass. Gerry lived an incredible life and had the stories and storytelling ability to share it with all. We will be forever grateful we had so long with him.
Gerry was pre-deceased by his first wife, Mary Frances Kempton, whom he married in 1958. She passed away in 1980.
Beloved husband of Karen Jeane (Nugent) whom he married in 1982. Loving father of Eric Lawrence and his wife, Michele, Leslie McCann, Mark Lawrence and his wife, Aimee, Kirsten DeRosia and her husband, Denny, Jason Simon and his wife, Tara, Dani Sawyer and her husband, John, Ryanne Kelley and her husband, Keith, and Tristan Lawrence. Loving brother of Gordon Lawrence and the late Joseph Lawrence and Dawn Kindred. Also survived by cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
A memorial service will be held on March 11, 2023 at 1 p.m. in the Trinity Episcopal Church, 3 Goddard Avenue, Rockland. A reception will follow.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
Floral tributes for the church altar may be ordered (if so desired) from Tilden's Florist (781-878-0460) 148 Market Street, Rockland, Massachusetts 02370.
