Frank Davis Coutinho, 83, of Wells, passed away December 23, 2021. He was born April 29, 1938 in New Bedford, MA to Simeon and Lillian (Harris) Coutinho.
Frank graduated from New Bedford High School. Following graduation he served our country as a member of the U.S. Navy as a Medic working with the Marines stationed in the Philippines during the Vietnam War. After his discharge from the Navy he attended Fullerton State College (CA) earning a Bachelor’s Degree in English. He went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Art from Bridgewater State University (MA) and also attended Swain School of Design and Kimball School of Business in Boston. He worked as a Corrections Officer for the California Prison System, UPS, Hill Company, and after retirement worked as a Security Guard for Allied.
Frank was very kind, funny and at times opinionated. He was very personable and would strike up a conversation with anyone. He was an artist specializing in oil painting. He enjoyed sports statistics and was an avid sports fan, especially college football, New York Giants, and New York Mets. He spent his down time reading and watching classic movies. He volunteered his time with food pantries in the Boston area and counselling for an emergency hotline.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents and first wife of over 40 years, Pauline Coutinho. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Nancy Chadbourne Coutinho of Wells; six children, Suzanne Wilbur and her husband Peter of Middleborough, MA, Donald Coutinho and his wife Anne of FL, Margaret Betancourt and her husband Rick of VA, Robert Coutinho and his wife Mary Jo of Westborough, MA, Frank Coutinho Jr. and his wife Marianne of Middleborough, MA, and Andrew Coutinho and his wife Kathy of Middleborough, MA; four step-children, Chuck Chadbourne of Wells, ME, Vicki Monroe and her husband Bret of Dayton, ME, David Chadbourne of Wells, ME, and Amy Hanson and her husband Kerry of Wells, ME; brother of Donald Coutinho and his wife, Charlotte of Acushnet; 28 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Services will be held on May 21, 2022 at 11 AM in Saint Mary Cemetery. A reception will follow.
