Ernest A. (Ernie) Fongeallaz, Jr. of Middleboro entered peacefully into Eternal Life on Thursday, August 18, 2022 in the VA Medical Center, Brockton, Massachusetts after a long illness.
Father of Steven Fongeallaz of Madison, Florida and his friend, Michelle Morse, David (Joan) Fongeallaz of Middleboro and Tom (Gina) Fongeallaz of Taunton. He also leaves his former spouse and caregiver, Marilyn Fongeallaz. Loving grandfather of 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Stanley Fongeallaz and Eugene Fongeallaz, his sisters, Dorothy (Fongeallaz) Darling and Marion (Fongeallaz) Goldie.
Ernie was born and raised in the Cochesett section of West Bridgewater. His late parents were Ernest and Dorothy Fongeallaz. He proudly served in the US Army having been stationed in France for much of his service. Ernie worked at several places throughout his career including the Town of Middleboro School Department, Ocean Spray and Butler Automatic. He also worked for many years with his son, Steve at Mr. Glass.
Ernie enjoyed spending many summers at Camp Wulamat in Bristol, New Hampshire and was known to many as "Mr. Fix-it". He also enjoyed playing cribbage and watching his favorite television shows.
Visiting hours on August 24, 2022 (Wednesday) from 5 until 7 p.m. in the O'Neill Funeral Home, 59 Peirce Street (corner of School Street) Middleboro.
Funeral services on August 25, 2022 (Thursday) at 10 a.m. in the funeral home.
Interment will follow in the Cemetery at The Green.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Veterans Association (hospice or general VA.org) and the COA of Middleboro.
