Edward Oscar Rood

The family of Edward O. Rood of Middleboro is saddened to announce his passing on August 3, 2024 at 
the age of 90 years. 

Ed was born in Lyndeborough, NH to William and Beatrice Rood in November 1933. He loved spending 
time with his family, visiting Disney World, apple picking, fishing, taking rides and watching the old 
western shows and the original Magnum PI. The grandchildren referred to him as the donut man bringing 
them donuts whenever he was in the area. 

Ed is preceded in death by his father William and mother Beatrice, brother William, brother Ronald and 
sister Claire. He is survived by his wife of Barbara, son Jefferey Rood of Brockton, daughter Mechelle 
Hurst and her husband Barry of Brockton, daughter Patricia Reid and her partner Robert Lizotte of 
Yarmouth, and son Matthew Reera and his wife Janina of Tewksbury, brother Richard Rood of Bourne, 
brother Elmer Rood of Milford, NH, 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and 
nephews.
