Ed Cushman was born on November 30, 1969. He passed away after a devastating farm accident on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the age of 56. Ed’s life was one marked by hard work and a deep love for his family.
Ed was the beloved son of Sandra (Teeling) Cushman-Burr and the late Brad Cushman. His father, Brad Cushman, preceded him in death. He grew up in Middleboro, MA and graduated from Middleboro High School in 1987. His love of carpentry, nature, and working with his hands came from striving to honor the legacy of his dad and grandpa Cushman. He met and married his soulmate, Diane in 1999. They moved to Monticello, KY in 2003 to realize their dream of owning a farm. Ed was an integral part of the community he chose to call home. He cared deeply about the children on his school bus, and the youth he had the privilege of working with over the years. He was a trustee of Big Sinking Baptist Church, and lived out his faith.
He is survived by his loving wife, Diane, and his mother Sandra Cushman-Burr (Richard). He also leaves behind his sister, Judy Cushman, affectionately known as “Ed’s sister,” who shared in his journey and memories. His extended family includes his aunt, Susan Martin; uncle, Bill Taylor; several cousins; brothers-in-law Ronald (Jackky), Robert (Carmella), Richard (Dawn), and Donald (Jessica) Lussier; his sister-in-law Susan Lussier, and many nieces and nephews. They, along with a host of family and friends, will profoundly feel the loss of Ed’s presence and mourn his passing.
Ed’s legacy is one of commitment to family, community, and the farm he loved so much. He always thought of and served the needs of others before himself. His calm, quiet, honest voice left a lasting impact on many. He will be remembered with great respect and fondness by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will be on May 5, 2026 from 4 until 6 PM in the First Baptist Church, 111 Plymouth Street (corner of Route 18) North Middleboro. A Celebration of Life will follow at 6 PM.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
