Dorothy L. (Accardi) Leahy

Dorothy L. (Accardi) Leahy, 96, passed away with her daughters by her side at home in Middleborough, MA, on March 22, 2022. She was born and raised in Cambridge, MA, the youngest of 8 children born to Carlo and Lucia Accardi. Dorothy was a graduate of Cambridge Rindge and Latin, where she was known as the "girl with the Pepsodent smile." Dorothy went to work at Polaroid after graduation, and that is where she met her husband, John. Dorothy and John married in Medford, MA, in 1956 and settled in Burlington, MA, where they raised their family. They retired to their homes in Mashpee, MA, and Port St. Lucie, Florida, during the late 1980s. John predeceased Dorothy in March of 2019.

Dorothy was devoted to her Catholic faith. She was also a sports fan, and she loved her Red Sox and Patriots. She learned to golf at the age of 60 and continued that, in addition to aerobics, well into her 80s.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Kevin J. Leahy of Gainesville, FL, daughter Kathleen M. Vellucci of Nashua, NH, and daughter Maureen E. Ahokas and her husband, Robert of Middleborough, MA. She was the cherished grandmother of Christopher J. Fitzgerald of Salem, NH, Cameron J. and Olivia S. Ahokas of Middleborough, MA, and the late Michael P. Fitzgerald. She also leaves her great-grandson, Dominic M. Fitzgerald of Salem, NH.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Isidore Parish, 340 Centre St. in Middleborough, on Friday, April 8, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Interment will be private.
