Donald Bourque Obituary

Donald Lucien Bourque of Middleboro died on January 17, 2021. He was 77.

Don was born on June 2, 1943 in Framingham, son of the late Gerard and Grace (Hemenway)
Bourque. He was a graduate of King Philip Regional High School in Wrentham and furthered his
education in mechanical design.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Bourque worked as Mechanical Design Engineer at Raytheon and
Avery Dennison in Framingham and General Electric (Panametrics) in Waltham. Over the course
of his career, he secured several patents for his designs.

Don served in the Army National Guard from 1964 until 1970 as a member of the 101st Infantry
in Norwood. It was there he met Ronald Smith with whom he became lifelong friends.

Mr. Bourque was active in the community as a member of the St.Vincent de Paul Society and
the Middleboro Council on Aging and assisting at the Middleboro Food Pantry. He was a
member of the Millis Lions Club for many years, and when his sons were younger, he served as a
Scout Master in the Millis Boy Scouts.

Don had a great sense of humor and a kind and gentle nature. He was an excellent golfer and
bowler and was an avid reader. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, crossword puzzles, Sudoku,
and playing cribbage and solitaire.

Don’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. One of his greatest enjoyments was
camping with family and friends especially at the annual Labor Day camping trip with the entire
Bourque family. He was known for his large-scale reproductions of popular game shows such as
Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune for Thanksgiving gatherings.

Beloved husband of Anna M. (Gianetti) Bourque. Devoted father of Paul D. Bourque and his wife
Tamera (Palmer) Bourque, Darren J. Bourque and his wife, Krista (Mueller) Bourque and
Catherine A. Bourque.

Brother of Mary (Bourque) Fregeau and her partner Brian Davin, Gordon (Frenchy) Bourque and
his wife, Karen (Wells) Bourque, Michael Bourque and his partner Rae Ann Suenaert, the late
Gerard Bourque and his wife Marilyn (Callahan) Bourque, the late Francis Bourque and his wife
Rita (Harper) Bourque and the late Yvonne (Bourque) Bryant. Brother-in-law of the late Anthony
Gianetti and his wife Linda (Smith) Gianetti.

Adoring grandfather of Julia Nicole Bourque and Megan Elizabeth Bourque (daughters of Paul
and Tamera Bourque), Lucien Bernard Bourque and Elise Wynne Bourque (children of Darren
and Krista Bourque).

He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Norfolk, Millis and
Middleboro, especially Ronald and Christine Smith of Norwell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Don to the Middleboro
Food Pantry, the Middleboro Council on Aging or to a charity of your choice.

Due to pandemic related restrictions on religious and social gatherings, a celebration of Don's
life will be held at a later date. All will be welcome at that time.
