David C Usher III passed away at home on February 5, three days prior to his 86th birthday.
Dave is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kate (Moore) Usher, of Middleboro, MA (formerly of Maine), his daughter, Joan L Usher, and her husband, Jim Larkin, of Lakeville, and, his son, David C Usher IV, and his wife, Kelly, of Bridgewater.
Dave was blessed with two grandchildren, Daniel Larkin of Middleboro and David C Usher V of Bridgewater.
He was preceded by his parents, Hazel (Schools) and David Usher, Jr., and his sister, Joan C Usher, all of Quincy.
Dave was a graduate of North Quincy High School where he played baseball. He served honorably in the National Guard becoming a sharp shooter and, then, found his calling as a firefighter in the Quincy Fire Department. He served more than 30 years in the QFD retiring as the city’s Acting Deputy Chief in 1998. For many years, during his off days, Dave also assisted his father in the family painting business.
He was a lover of sports and enjoyed bodybuilding. He had a passion for ‘50’s rock ‘n roll and animals. Dave had a great sense of humor, a fun-loving personality, and many times was described as the life of the party.
He will be missed.
Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Black Feather Horse Rescue, a local organization that was dear to Dave’s heart. They can be found at:
