David C. Easton, 71, of Whitman, MA and formerly of Windsor, CT went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on January 28, 2025 after a brave bout with cancer for several months. He is survived by his devoted wife Susan (Ahern) Easton of 35 years, his son Matthew Easton of Braintree, MA and his daughter Sarah Easton of Brockton, MA. He is also survived by his brother Clifford Easton and his wife Martha (“Marty”) of Antrim, NH, and his sister Sandra (“Sandy”) from Colchester, CT. He was predeceased by another brother, Donald Easton from Randleman, North Carolina. He is survived by his nieces and nephews.
In addition, Dave is survived by the close-knit Ahern family with whom he spent a great deal of time over the years including his mother-in-law Joan Ahern of North Weymouth, MA, sister-in-law Joan Smith and her husband Daniel of Pembroke, MA, brother-in-law Francis Ahern and his wife Susan of Hingham, MA, sister-in-law Deborah Maher and her husband Joseph of Braintree, MA, sister-in-law Laura Newell of North Weymouth, MA, brother-in-law William Ahern and his wife Mary of Lakeville, MA, sister-in-law Carol Shaw and her husband Ricky of Weymouth, MA, brother-in-law Edward Ahern of Marshfield, MA, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father-in-law Francis J. Ahern.
Dave graduated from Windsor High School in Windsor, CT, graduated with his associate’s degree from Manchester Community College in CT, graduated with his bachelor’s degree from Central Connecticut State University, and graduated from Bridgewater State University in MA with a Master’s Degree in Education with a concentration in Counseling. He worked for the MA Department of Mental Health as a mental health counselor for 25 years. He grew up attending Trinity Methodist Church in Windsor, CT. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Weymouth, MA where he taught Sunday School and played on the church softball team. He was also a member of Brookville Baptist Church in Holbrook, MA where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, an Elder, Bible study leader and co-founder of Cornerstone Career Services. He was often heard reminding listeners to “Learn the Word. Live the Word. Share the Word.” Finally, he joined First Baptist Church of North Middleboro, MA where he served as an Elder and a beloved Sunday School Teacher. He was known for saying “The Bible does not contain the truth…it is the Truth.” He dedicated his life to glorifying the Lord and serving others by volunteering at Brookville’s Food Pantry and serving at the Taunton Area Community Table. Dave was known for his sense of humor and making everyone feel comfortable, welcome and at-home. An avid Boston Red Sox fan, he loved to cheer the team on from the comfort of his living room with his family.
On his frequent walks through his neighborhood he would start the day waving to others or by greeting them “Good morning” and they would return the gesture. He loved to start the day like that! When his brother came to town, he loved to go to Joe’s Coffee Shop in Hanover to get a good breakfast, share stories and crack jokes. He was proud of his Swedish heritage and when he visited family members or close friends he’d often ask for coffee. Dave lived to glorify God and spread His love everywhere he went. Dave’s life was a true walk of faith that he shared with anyone who needed hope or encouragement.
