Daniel Ashley Dernier, Jr. of Taunton died suddenly on June 27, 2021. He was 48.
He was born on May 4, 1973 in Brockton, the son of Daniel Ashley Dernier, Sr. and the late Esther Ruth (Miller). He was raised in Middleboro, graduating from Middleboro High School, where he played soccer. Dan was a graduate of Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy where he earned a Degree in Business Administration.
Dan had a diverse career that included working at Emerson & Cummings. He worked alongside his father, brothers and several close friends. Most recently, he worked at The Home Depot in Bridgewater, where he was briefly able to work alongside his daughter.
Dan was passionate about church, music and soccer. He was a referee for MYSA, involved in ministry at The First Congregational Church of Middleboro as both a Sunday school teacher and a Pioneer Club leader. He was an active member of the Winthrop Street Baptist Church in Taunton, where he was a member of the praise team playing bass guitar until his health forced him to step down. Faith, family and ministry were most important to him. He loved to help behind the scenes whenever able.
Loving husband of almost 26 years to Tammy (Harris). Devoted father to Ashleigh Elizabeth (24) and Justin Thomas (21). Beloved son of Daniel A. Dernier, Sr. and Kellie (Gaura) Dernier. Brother to Nathan Peter Dernier, Julia Buckley , the late Andrew Bradford Dernier, Jennifer Bowles, Brandi Wood and brother of his heart Derek Ambrozaitis. Son-in-law to Robert and Geri Harris. Brother-in-law to Erika Dernier, Ken Buckley, Russell Bowles, Jeff Wood, the Reverend Scott and Kathleen Harris and Doreen Harris. Dan was also a loving uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Deacon's Fund of the Winthrop Street Baptist Church or to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
A celebration of Dan's life will be held on July 16, 2021 at 7 PM in the Winthrop Street Baptist Church, 39 Winthrop Street, Taunton.
