Calvin Maxim, Sr. Obituary

Calvin H. Maxim, Sr., 82, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2021 after a brief illness.

He was born on June 24, 1939 in Middleboro and remained a lifelong resident, with the exception of his military service.

Calvin was the son of the late Hosea Maxim, Sr. and Rhoda (Griffith) Maxim.  A veteran, he served in the United States Army and was Honorably Discharged.  Prior to retirement, Calvin worked as a Union Carpenter.  However, his true love was farming and he always considered himself a farmer.  He participated in numerous farmers markets in a variety of towns.

Calvin loved his family and that love was returned.  He treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren.  He would always light up when they visited and enjoyed giving them rides on his tractor.  He liked to get up early!  Even before the sun came up Calvin was baking zucchini bread or cakes.  He enjoyed playing Uno with family and friends, square dancing, blueberrying and fishing.  Though he loved to travel to a variety of places, especially Maine to visit family, Calvin loved sitting on his deck and enjoying his property.   He loved country music and would always say “Tain’t county, Tain’t music”. He enjoyed television shows, including Everybody Loves Raymond, MASH, Andy Griffith and COPS.  Calvin appreciated old comedians such as Red Skelton, Bob Hope, Lucille Ball, Carol Burnett, Jim Nabors and Don Knotts.

Devoted husband of Mary (Bishop) Maxim.  Loving father of Elizabeth Palumbo and her husband, Michael, Calvin Maxim, Jr. and his wife, Patricia, Michelle Manny and her husband, Robert, Michael Maxim and his wife, Heather, Donna MacDonald and her husband, John, Richard Kaminsky and his wife, Amanda.  Brother of Barbara Holmberg, Gerard Maxim, Sr. and the late Hosea Maxim, Jr.  Adored grandfather of Robert Kaminsky, Jr. and his wife, Cali, Luke Palumbo, Jason Botelho, Kyle Maxim and his wife, Rebecca, Phoebe and Elliot Maxim, Patrick MacDonald, Shannon Crowley and her husband, Tyler, Natalie Perkins and her husband, Kevin, Abriana Kaminsky, Elliet Hayes, Isabella Kaminsky and great-grandfather to Adriana Litsey, Urijah Crowley, Kayden and Elena-Mae Perkins.  Calvin will be missed by his many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 22, 2021 (Wednesday) from 1 until 4 p.m. in the Maxim Residence, 227 Ryder Road, Rochester.
