Anthony L. Avilla

Anthony L. Avilla of Taunton died peacefully on September 20, 2025 in his home. He was 59. 

He was born on June 3, 1966 in Taunton, son of the late Augustus A. Avilla, Sr. and Isabelle (Tavares) Avilla.

He was the brother of Augustus Avilla, Jr., Patricia Lougee, Michael Avilla, Sr., Joseph Avilla, Sr. and the late Jack Avilla.  Tony is also survived by his son, Seth Avilla, his best friends, Al Orcutt and Jeff Crandall, nieces and nephews, his cat, Bailey and his former wife, Lorna (Chappell) Shute.  Tony was also pre-deceased by his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Tavares and his paternal grandmother, Clara Mendoza.  

Tony worked at Stop & Shop as a Meat Cutter for 24 years.  He loved dragons and video games, crocheting, walking on the beach, relaxing in his favorite chair and sitting on the porch during thunderstorms.  The East Wind Lobster & Grille in Buzzards Bay was his favorite restaurant.  Tony loved life and lived it to the fullest!

Visiting hours on September 30, 2025 from 4 until 7 PM in the O'Neill Funeral Home, 59 Peirce Street (corner of School Street) Middleboro. 

Funeral services on October 1, 2025 at 10 AM in the O'Neill Funeral Home.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
