Anne E. Ferguson of South Dartmouth died peacefully and surrounded by her family in her home on June 19, 2025.
She was born in New Bedford and was a graduate of Holy Family High School. Anne earned her Bachelor's Degree in Special Education from Bridgewater State University and her Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy from Boston University.
Anne's love of the seaside brought her to Trunk Bay, St. John, US Virgin Islands where she lived and worked as a lifeguard, fulfilling her dream of living by the ocean at an early age. Later on, Anne made her way to the Outer Cape where she achieved the honor of being one of the first women to be certified lifeguard at the Cape Cod National Seashore. After settling in Padanaram Village with her husband Alan, Anne could regularly be found at another of her two favorite seaside spots, Anthony Beach and the New Bedford Yacht Club.
Prior to her illness related retirement, Anne worked as an Occupational Therapist for many years. She enjoyed golf and sailing often with her husband and son.
Beloved wife of Alan H. Ferguson. Devoted mother of Patrick and his wife, Mary. Anne was thrilled to be a new grandmother to Patrick and Mary's son, Teddy. She is also survived by her siblings and their families.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on June 28, 2025 at 9 a.m. in Saint Mary's Church, 789 Dartmouth Street, South Dartmouth. Burial will be private.
