Wendy Dee Applegate of Middleboro, God’s epitome of “ A Fighting Irish Spirit” passed away after a long defiant fight against breast cancer on March 18, 2017 at the McCarthy House in Sandwich. She was 47.  Wendy battled with grace and dignity and of course her Irish sense of humor.  She was born on March 11, 1970 in Miami, Florida, the daughter of the late Virginia Lee (Sullivan) Applegate and Arthur James Applegate.  Wendy was a graduate of Middleboro High School and recently relocated there after residing in Manlius, New York and Austin, Texas.  Wendy loved “livin” life, and she adored her daughters Angel, Natalyn, and her grandchildren Jesus, and Leah.  Wendy’s strength and fighting Irish spirit will continue to inspire her loving siblings who survive her: Victoria Lieb Lightcap, Cynthia (Lieb) Itri, Michael D. Lieb, Karen  (Lieb) Beaulieu, as well as her brothers in law, Kerry Lightcap, Robert Beaulieu, William Itri ; her nephews and nieces Matthew Lieb, Kirstyn Lightcap, Langston Lightcap and Geoffrey Heeks, her dear friend Herman Gonzales, as well as her many other friends that came to know her.  Wendy was a talented cake decorator and baker by trade.  Her artistic flair was also revealed in her many arts and crafts projects, which will be treasured forever.   As an RCIA member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in New York, Wendy came to know the loving grace of God.

The family would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude for the generous compassion showed by the doctors and staff at Upstate Cancer Center, Dana-Farber in Boston and especially the warm and caring staff at McCarthy House.  Wendy defied all odds and predictions with her sheer will, faith and a bit of Irish stubbornness.
