Shirley Louise (Hathaway) Hunt

Shirley Louise (Hathaway) Hunt passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 3, 2019. She was born in Wareham, MA daughter of the late Francis & Alice Hathaway. Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Kenneth L. Hunt, Jr., her children, Suzanne L. Anderson & her husband Bruce, of Middleboro; Roy L. Hunt of Westfield; Kenneth L. Hunt III & his wife Omayra, of Taunton; Joseph L. Hunt & his fiancé Dee Potter of Skowhegan, ME; and Raymond M. Hunt & his wife Karen, of Whitman. She is predeceased by her daughter Charlene A. Jackson of CA. Shirley is one of 10 children, 7 which are now deceased, Walter Hathaway, Loretta Hathaway-Amico, Nancy Fisher, Charles Hathaway, Francis Hathaway, John Hathaway, and Richard Hathaway. She is survived by her sister Virginia Riley & her husband Lawrence of Wareham; and her brother David & his wife Leona of Bridgewater; and her sister-in-law Natalie Martin of Abington, MA.

She was a proud grandmother of 13, Elizabeth Albon & her husband Damon, of Middleboro; Sara Cameron & her husband Corey of Hopedale; Daniel Anderson of Middleboro, MA; Sandra Widerynski & her husband Marek of Augusta, ME; Jessica Hunt of Topsham, ME; Lisa Hunt of Norridgewock, ME; Carlos Hunt & his wife Carla, of Barcelona, Spain; Kenneth Hunt IV of Boston, MA; Matthew Hunt & his fiancé Amber Lassiter of Fall River, MA; Jenna Rae Hunt of Whitman, MA; Todd Jackson of MN; and Jonathan Hunt of CA. Shirley is predeceased by her grandson, Juan Hunt of Washington, DC. 

Shirley was also blessed with 12 great-grandchildren; Emma, Marielle, Gabriel, Abel, Nathaniel, Matthew, Levi, Zion, Kaia, Adrian, Gracey & Elijah. 

When Shirley wasn’t spending time with her family, she loved to cook, bake, sew, crochet, knit and garden. She was a devoted wife and mother. She loved taking care of her grandchildren & great-grandchildren. She had a genuine interest in their lives and loved to play, teach and help them grow. From making them PJ’s, quilts, Barbie clothes and an array of other things, her greatest gift was her time. She will be missed by so many, but not forgotten. 

Visiting hours will be 4-7 PM on May 15, 2019 in the O'Neill Funeral Home, 59 Peirce Street (corner of School Street) Middleboro. 

Interment, with time limitations, will be on June 12, 2019 from 1 o'clock until 1:15 PM in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.  

A reception will follow and details will be announced.  

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Shirley’s name to Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley Street, West Bridgewater, MA 02379.
