Robert George Byrne of Lakeville died on May 13, 2017 following a period of declining health.  He was 87.

He was born on November 9, 1929 in Ridgewood, New York, son of the late Edward and Sarah (Murphy) Byrne. Mr. Byrne was a graduate of Brooklyn College, Class of 1966.  A veteran, he served in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged.  Prior to his retirement, Mr. Byrne worked as an engineer. 

Beloved husband of the late Sylvia E. (Lachowsky).  Devoted father of Karen E. Byrne of North Fort Myers, Florida, Michael J. Smith of Madera, California, Lisa S. Carlson, Esq. of Lakeville, with whom he made his home, Steven M. Smith of Poughkeepsie, New York, Tara M. Hill of Newburgh, New York and the late Maureen Harris.  Brother of Mary Metzler of Texas.  Also survived by grandchildren, nieces, nephews and Wolfgang and Lady. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday (June 3, 2017) at 11 AM in Saints Martha & Mary Church, 354 Bedford Street (Route 18) Lakeville.  A reception will follow.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. 

Interment Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.
