Janice M. (Andrews) Burgess of Middleboro died on February 27, 2017. She was 81.
Jan raised two families and was fiercely proud of her children's accomplishments. A skilled seamstress, she made her daughter's clothes and dolls wardrobe. She caned chairs and was a quilter. She made quilts for family members and sold quilt wall hangings. Jan made her sons' wedding cakes and her granddaughter's confirmation cake. Specialty cakes for the grandchildren included trucks, a teddy bear and Barbie. A skilled baker, Jan was the market master for 10 years at Middleboro's only USDA Certified Class "A" market, where she often sold her breads and pastries made from scratch.
Jan worked as a committee member for the Boy Scouts, created and cared for a herbs and flower garden. For more than 50 years she enjoyed camping, traveling from West Virginia to Newfoundland. Additionally, she was an avid bird watcher and especially loved hummingbirds.
Beloved wife of Ronald D. Burgess, Sr. of Middleboro. Adored mother of Cindy Davis of Florida, Ronald D. Burgess, Jr. of Middleboro and the late Stephen Wrightington. Loving sister of Josephine Michaud of Methuen, Christine Mancini of Tennessee, Helen Andrews of Oregon and the late John Andrews. Also survived by 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
