She made quilts for family members and sold quilt wall hangings. Jan made her sons' wedding cakes and her granddaughter's confirmation cake. Specialty cakes for the grandchildren included trucks, a teddy bear and Barbie. A skilled baker, Jan was the market master for 10 years at Middleboro's only USDA Certified Class "A" market, where she often sold her breads and pastries made from scratch.
Jan worked as a committee member for the Boy Scouts, created and cared for a herbs and flower garden. For more than 50 years she enjoyed camping, traveling from West Virginia to Newfoundland. Additionally, she was an avid bird watcher and especially loved hummingbirds.
