He was born on September 17, 1935 in Iloilo City, Philippines, son of the late Jose C. and Louisa (Co) Dy Bunpin.

Beloved husband for more than 52 years of Esperanza (Javellana) Dy Bunpin. Devoted father of Jodi and her husband, Dr. Mario Corpuz of Middleboro, Jose C. Dy Bunpin, III, PhD and his husband, Vu Tran of San Francisco, California and the late Ma. Lena Dy Bunpin. Adored grandfather of Joshua, Jedrick and Jaevin Corpuz.
