John Joseph Hurley of Maynard, formerly of Holbrook, died peacefully on July 16, 2017 surrounded by his loving family following a brief illness. He was 90. 

He was born on March 20, 1927 in Boston, son of the late John and Gertrude I. (Henderson) Hurley.  Raised in Dorchester, Mr. Hurley was a graduate of Roxbury High School.  While in high school, he entered the United States Navy and served our country during World War II.  He was honorably discharged. Prior to retirement, Mr. Hurley worked as a printer at the former Edinboro Offset Company in Boston.   

Beloved husband of the late Alice Rita (Eastman) Hurley.  Devoted father of Denise Hurley and her partner, Jean Syria of Lancaster, Kathleen F. Dellamano of Mansfield, Deborah A. Backman and her husband, Clifford of Maynard, Michael D. Hurley and his wife, Eleanor of Middleboro and Rita Hurley, surviving spouse of his late son, John.  Loving brother of Eleanor St. Hilaire of Dover, New Hampshire and the late Robert Hurley.  Also survived by 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.  

Visiting hours on Wednesday (July 19, 2017) from 7-9 PM and Thursday (July 20, 2017) beginning at 8 AM in the O'Neill Funeral Home, 59 Peirce Street (corner of School Street) Middleboro, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church.  Interment Massachusetts National Cemetery at 1 PM.  

Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
