James Thomas MacKay of Anderson, South Carolina, formerly of Boston and West Roxbury, died peacefully on April 15, 2017.  He was 71. 

He was born on March 22, 1946 in Boston, son of the late John Hugh and Marguerite (Hoffman) MacKay and was a graduate of Catholic Memorial High School.  Mr. MacKay served in the United States Navy (1964-1968) and was honorably discharged.  Prior to his retirement, he devoted more than 30 years to the Digital Equipment Corporation.

Beloved brother of George S. and his wife, Nancy MacKay of Middleboro.  Loving uncle of Michelle and her husband, Christopher Doyle of Bridgewater, Lauren MacKay and her husband, Douglas Leet of Bridgewater.  Also survived by 5 grandnieces and grandnephews.  

Visiting hours Wednesday (May 10, 2017) from 4-7 PM.

Funeral from the O'Neill Funeral Home, 59 Peirce Street (corner of School Street) Middleboro, Thursday (May 11, 2017) at 9 AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church at 10 AM.  Interment Massachusetts National Cemetery at 12:30 PM.
